A collaboration between 5 Moreton region schools with my NDCO colleague Theresa from TAFE South West who covers Brisbane are coordinating a work inspiration program. This aims to provide an insight into the world of work for around 36 students from Year 10 & 11. The project involves a day where students gain an insight into who they are and what career industry sector best suits their skills and personality and then leads to visiting employers. These visits with employers will look at going behind the scene to gain an improve understanding of the business and hear stories from employees of their journey from school. Building from this experience they will visit and hear from a training organisation and end with a celebration day. It is hoped that many of these students will consider applying for the Gener8 programs offered by DETE North Coast Region in Year 12 in transport and logistics.
Thank you to TAFE Brisbane Caboolture Campus, Coles, Bunnings, and Costco based in Northlakes; Brown & Hurley and Kangaroo Bus Lines in Narangba for so eagerly embracing this project. Australian Apprenticeship Support will deliver the career profiling and STEPS Group Australian WHS officer will be providing a basic workplace induction. A wonderful collaborative project.
This project stemmed from the Moreton Student Future Meetings driven by the regional youth support coordinator, DETE North Coast Region.
